A man in Kentucky was arrested for putting chains around his lover and other crimes against her. At his trial, police said he told them the woman did it herself because she couldn’t stop cheating on him.
Detective Brittany O’Neil of the Louisville Metro Police Department says that Moises May, of Louisville, tried to say that Jonna Wilson, who is also the mother of his daughter, tied herself up before police found her at a home in Louisville’s Park Hill neighborhood in 2023.
Fox affiliate WDRB reported that O’Neil testified in court on Wednesday at May’s trial and said there were no signs or proof of self-imprisonment.
WDRB says O’Neil said, “It didn’t seem like it was something she did to herself.” The source says she said May told cops that Wilson chained herself up because she couldn’t stop cheating on her husband.
In court, O’Neil told the judges that May cut Wilson’s hair with a knife because she “lost a bet” with him over a game of checkers. He is said to have changed his story and later said that it was cut off because May didn’t want Wilson to dye her hair, so she asked him to do it instead.
Reports say that O’Neil also talked about how May trafficked Wilson and made her have sex with guys for money. It is said that he did this at least five times.
After May was arrested, police shared disturbing footage from their body cameras showing them rescuing Wilson while she was chained to the floor of a bedroom on the second floor.
You can hear Wilson say “thank you so much” on video.
As she walks by a room with a padlock on the door with the police, she says, “He never let me in there.”
On the night of August 16, 2023, Wilson was screaming for help from a broken window on the second floor. Neighbors called the police and the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department went to the house. Police arrived to find that the whole first floor had been blocked off. They broke windows and tried to kick in doors, but it didn’t work. At last, a police officer got a ladder and went up to the second floor. Wilson was shaking and crying when he walked into the room. Around her neck was a metal collar that was held in place by a MasterLock that was linked to a chain and bolted to the floor.
Wilson was checked out by paramedics after police called them. He was treated at the spot. The doctors cut the chain around her neck with bolt cutters.
A review of Wilson’s arrest citation said that he reportedly held May down on the floor, cut off most of her hair, and chained her up while they were arguing. The report says that he hit her and threatened to kill her several times. Wilson says May told her, “You’re gonna get it tonight” and “I told you next time you leave and don’t come home I’ll kill you,” which made her take off some of her clothes. WDRB says he reportedly chained her up for about five hours.
Wilson told the news outlet in August 2023 that she was afraid for her life when she talked about the claimed ordeal.
Wilson told the news source, “I told them, ‘This is my only chance. If I don’t get free now, I’ll be dead.'”
“He took off all of my clothes, put the chain around my neck, and called his friend to say, ‘I need to take this back to Lowe’s.'” I’m going to kill you when I get back. Wilson said, “I only had a few minutes to get out.”
May, who has pleaded not guilty, is being charged with kidnapping, human trafficking, and abuse for what he is said to have done to Wilson. WDRB says that the case will be given to the jurors on Thursday after the closing arguments.
