Sunny and Warmer Thursday Ahead, but Rainy Weekend Expected for Metro Detroit (1)

It’s been another wonderful day across the region, with plenty of sunshine and a little cloud cover, and we’ll keep the dry weather in the forecast for the nighttime hours tonight and into Thursday.

Partly cloudy skies are predicted overnight tonight, with another cool night although not as cold as the previous few evenings. Overnight lows fell into the upper 20s and lower 30s.

The sun stays out on Thursday, and we continue the warming trend and temperature rise. By Thursday afternoon, the high temperature is expected to reach the mid-50s.

Our next system enters the region at the end of the week, over the weekend, and early next week. We’ll see two different regions of low pressure sweep across the region. By early next week, on Monday.

A warm front will move north into the region to start the weekend on Saturday, keeping rain in the forecast until more widespread showers and even a few thunderstorms arrive Sunday afternoon and evening. We will monitor the potential for severe weather until the end of the weekend; as of tonight, the danger region appears to be just south of Metro Detroit, extending into Northern Indiana and Northern Ohio.

anticipate rain to continue into the new year on Monday, and as our second low pressure system passes directly over southern Michigan, anticipate gusty winds to begin the week and rain showers to turn to snow showers Monday evening. That system moves east, and things will dry out by Tuesday.

Temperatures will remain warm, reaching the 60s by the end of the weekend, before cooling back down to the 40s to begin next week. Then we warm up slightly, with highs returning to the 50s by Wednesday of next week.
