Texas Resident Faces Justice After Pleading Guilty to $2M PPP Loan Fraud

Antonio Jackson, 39, a resident of Manvel, pleaded guilty to wire fraud for submitting fraudulent Payroll Protection Plan (PPP) applications under a nonexistent business, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas announced today.

According to the U.S. attorney’s office, Jackson admitted to falsifying tax documents, bank statements, and employee records to the Small Business Administration (SBA).

His scheme resulted in a $491,711 loss to the SBA, the office said.

As part of his plea, Jackson also admitted to multiple other fraud schemes committed during the COVID-19 epidemic, the department stated.

One involved defrauding a Washington, D.C.-based federal credit union through false home improvement loan applications, the department explained.

Jackson further acknowledged committing mortgage fraud by falsely claiming an honorable military discharge to secure a Department of Veterans Affairs-backed loan, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.

Notably, Jackson attempted to avoid property taxes in Brazoria County by falsely claiming to be a fully disabled veteran, the department added.

Additionally, Jackson admitted to credit card abuse in December 2024, the department confirmed.

In total, the U.S. attorney’s office said Jackson’s fraudulent activities caused losses exceeding $2 million.

U.S. District Judge Lee H. Rosenthal is set to impose sentencing on April 16, when Jackson faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a potential $250,000 fine, the department stated.

“Going after fraudsters who take money meant for hard-working Americans is a priority for this office,” said U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei.

“Doing so both upholds the public trust and protects the taxpayer.”
