The Last Time Kentucky Lost Four Straight Games

The world is upside down right now in the state of Kentucky with the Wildcats current losing streaking standing at three games. There’s a good chance that extends to four games later tonight at No. 10 Auburn.

The Wildcats have lost their last three games, a 69-60 loss at Mizzou, a 61-59 heartbreaker to Tennessee, and a gut punch 85-74 loss at Texas A&M last Saturday. John Calipari is fortunate this streak isn’t longer, as the Wildcats had to erase a 17-point deficit to win at West Virginia and they needed overtime to defeat Vanderbilt after trailing by 14 points at Rupp Arena.

The current three game losing streak is the longest of the Calipari era and the first since the 2008-2009 season, the final one for former head coach Billy Gillispie. If they don’t get things figured out before 9 p.m. tonight, the losing streak will extend to four and there are no easy games coming up.

That 2008-2009 Kentucky team was also the last group to lose four straight games. From February 25th to March 7th, that group of Wildcats lost to South Carolina, LSU, Georgia, and Florida, which landed them in the NIT.

Fans are wondering if this team will suffer the same fate and it very well could but you have to think they do enough down the stretch to make it to the big dance. The Wildcats have good non-conference wins vs. Louisville, Virginia Tech, and at West Virginia. However, finishing at least .500 in SEC play is a must if they want to avoid the bubble when the calendar turns to March.

Kentucky will look to end its three game losing skid and pick up their best win of the season later tonight on the Plains. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. ET. on ESPN2.
