Three Injured in Head-on Collision on Highway 70 in Feather River Canyon

QUINCY, Calif. – Three persons were transported to Enloe Health on Tuesday morning following a head-on collision involving two automobiles in Feather River Canyon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, at around 6:49 a.m. Tuesday, dispatchers received a complaint about a careless driver on Highway 70. The caller described the car as a dark green Acura sedan that was swerving across the road and traveling in the wrong lane.

An officer from the California Highway Patrol was dispatched to the vehicle’s last known position to intercept it, but while en approach, the officer received a call of a head-on collision involving the same Acura at 6:58 a.m.

Authorities said the driver, 53-year-old Jeremy Genn of Oakdale, was traveling down Highway 70 with a female passenger.

Genn entered a blind curve near Rush Creek while driving the opposite way, and his Acura collided with a Chevrolet pickup truck. According to the CHP, the pickup vehicle was driven by a 62-year-old Quincy man.

According to authorities, the head-on incident caused significant damage to both the Acura and the Chevy, as well as injuries to all three parties.

Genn, his female passenger, and the pickup truck driver were all transported to Enloe Health to be treated for their injuries.

Highway 70 reopened to traffic within three hours of the crash, following considerable cleanup and the disposal of both automobiles.

The California Highway Patrol says the investigation is ongoing, but they expect to prosecute Genn for careless driving that resulted in injury.
