Top 75 Oregon high school football games this season: 75-61

The Oregonian/OregonLive wants to spend the first few days of August anticipating some of the most anticipated football games of the autumn, even though the 2025 Oregon high school football season doesn’t begin until August 29.

Unless otherwise specified, all games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Numbers 75–61 of the most intriguing and thrilling games in autumn are as follows:

75. Burns at La Grande, Friday, Sept. 19

The defending 3A champion Hilanders head north to meet the Tigers, who made their comeback to the 4A playoffs after a one-year break, in a matchup between two of the best teams in Eastern Oregon.

74. La Salle Prep at Hood River Valley, Friday, Oct. 3

Out of the Northwest Oregon Conference, both teams advanced to the 5A playoffs the previous season. On Homecoming night, can the Falcons be able to shut down returning all-state running back Bam Layna?

73. Marist Catholic at Tillamook, Friday, Sept. 5

The Cheesemakers and their returning junior quarterback, Kevin Hurliman, will face the reigning 4A champion on the North Coast.

72. Wilsonville at North Medford, Friday, Oct. 3

The current 6A champion Black Tornado will face the two-time 5A champion Wildcats at Spiegelberg Stadium, which is located along Interstate 5.

71. Burns at North Valley, Friday, Oct. 10

The Hilanders shouldn’t be intimidated by traveling across the Cascades to play a Knights team that advanced to the 3A quarterfinals since they were road warriors in the 3A playoffs on their way to winning the state championship the previous year.

70. Banks at Santiam Christian, Friday, Sept. 5

Last year, these teams faced up in Week 1 at Banks, where the Eagles were looking to exact revenge after a 35-9 loss at home in Adair Village.

69. Siuslaw at Cascade Christian, Friday, Sept. 19

This high-profile nonleague game of returning 3A quarterfinalists will pit two of Southern Oregon’s best small-school teams against one another.

68. St. Paul at Heppner, 7:30 pm, Friday, Sept. 5

The home opener for the new Mustangs coach Rob Wilson, who replaced Greg Grant, is an easy one: they will welcome the 2A champion Buckaroos in a rematch of the semifinals from the previous season.

67. Clackamas at Tualatin, Friday, Aug. 29

The last time these two 6A Open qualifiers met in the regular season was in 2009, and they haven’t met since the 2016 playoffs.

66. Cascade at Tillamook, Friday, Sept. 19

In a 50-14 victory over the Cheesemakers last season, Cougars quarterback Cade Coreseon had a great night, passing for three touchdowns and running for two.

65. South Wasco County at Harper Charter, 1 pm, Friday, Sept. 5

Last season, the Mustangs defeated these Eastern Oregon six-man powers twice, including in the district final game on their way to the state championship game.

64. West Albany at Canby, Friday, Aug. 29

After an injury ended his sophomore season, Cougars wide receiver/linebacker Jack Brauckmiller, one of the state’s top class of 2027 prospects, finally makes his comeback.

63. Marist Catholic at Churchill, Friday, Aug. 29

A year ago, Marist Catholic pulled off a thrilling 33-30 victory over the Spartans, the 4A state champions, and the Lancers, the 5A Midwestern League champions, in a great season opener.

62. Lakeridge at Nelson, Friday, Aug. 29

Two schools hoping to challenge the established powers in their respective leagues this season are meeting for the first time.

61. North Valley at Cascade Christian, Friday, Oct. 24

The Knights’ challenge to last year’s league title defense was thwarted by the Challengers 41-6, but North Valley advanced further in the 3A state playoffs, making it to the semifinals.
