DeKalb, IL – This week, a section of Lincoln Drive North on the campus of Northern Illinois University will be closed for important utility work. This will make it harder to get to the West Heating Plant.
Police and Public Safety at Northern Illinois University say the road is closed from Grant Drive East to Stadium Drive East as of Sunday. To improve heating infrastructure, crews are bringing and setting up a new deaerator and condensate tanks. As part of continued work to improve NIU’s energy systems, the work is being done.
Lincoln Drive North should be open again by Thursday, April 25, according to the university. People walking or driving through the area are told to take different routes and plan extra time for their trips.
On campus at NIU, people are told to follow the diversion signs and be careful in work areas. As the project moves forward, updates will be given.
