All lanes of Interstate 71 North have reopened near downtown Columbus following a tragic tractor-trailer incident early Wednesday.
The incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. on I-71 north near the Interstate 670 west intersection near downtown.
According to Columbus police, 22-year-old Jahara Tunkara was driving a Nissan Rogue when he came to a stop in the northbound lanes of Interstate 71. A Nissan was rear-ended by an International tractor-trailer traveling north.

Tunkara was brought to Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center with critical injuries. He died at 2:23 a.m. on Wednesday.
The highway was stopped for many hours as police investigated the crash, but it has since reopened.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
