Kentucky’s NCAA Tournament drought is finally over.

The Wildcats defeated Providence 61-53 Friday, their first tournament victory since defeating Houston in the Sweet Sixteen in March 2019.

Oscar Tshiebwe is one of the biggest reasons Kentucky emerged victorious in the opening round.

The senior forward totaled 25 rebounds in the win, a new school record in an NCAA Tournament game. Jerry Bird held the previous record with 24 rebounds vs. Iowa in 1956.
