An Arizona couple was murdered in a three-vehicle accident on I-40 near Alanreed Friday morning.
The crash occurred around 11:38 a.m., about five and a half kilometers west of Alanreed.
A 2018 Kia Soul was going eastbound on I-40 when a 2014 Kenworth semi-truck and flat-bed trailer became disabled in the left lane owing to a previous collision.
Blowing dirt and a neighboring wildfire reduced visibility to an extreme low, causing the Kia to collide with the back of the semi’s trailer.
A 2018 Freightliner semi and trailer traveling eastbound collided with the back of the Kia.
Both occupants of the Kia Soul, William Kraig, 67, and Richene McKaig, 73, of Phoenix, Arizona, were pronounced dead on the scene.
There were no further injuries in this crash.
