LAS VEGAS — UCLA isn’t sure what roles former Oregon cornerback Rodrick Pleasant will have yet, but special teams will be among them.
The highest ranked recruit to transfer from Oregon during Dan Lanning’s tenure, Pleasant left for UCLA this spring and finished out the track and field season at UO.
UCLA coach DeShaun Foster said Pleasant, the No. 90 overall prospect in the class of 2023, is a “great talent.”
“Has a lot of upside,” Foster said at Big Ten media days. “We’re still trying to figure out exactly what we can do with him, but I’m excited to see him doing some special teams, returning kicks, and just finding ways to get the ball in his hands because he is a special talent.”
Pleasant, who is entering his redshirt sophomore season with three years of eligibility remaining, had one tackle in four games while redshirting last season. He had four tackles, one pass breakup and a forced fumble in seven games in 2023.
A four-star recruit out of California’s Junipero Serra High, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound Pleasant is also a sprinter. He ran in the 100 meters and was part of UO’s 4×100 relay team.
