‘Wanted a Boy’: Man Who Killed Pregnant Wife and Two Daughters Learns His Fate

A lady in New York was killed by her husband while she was five months pregnant. Her father told the court that the defendant did it because he “wanted a boy.”

Drew Garnier, 33, admitted in March that he killed his wife Samantha Garnier, 29, on September 4, 2024. Samantha was 29 weeks pregnant with their third daughter at the time of her death. Drew Garnier also stabbed his two girls, who were 6 and 9 years old at the time. He admitted to two counts of assault and was given less time in prison.

As was already said, two days after Labour Day, New York State Police were called to the couple’s home in Masonville, New York, for a “domestic dispute.” At the scene of the crime, Drew Garnier turned himself in to police and was treated for minor injuries. Samantha Garnier was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital, but it was decided that she was dead there. The two girls who were stabbed were treated and finally got better.

Local CBS affiliate WBMG reported that Drew Garnier’s father talked about a possible reason why his daughter Samantha Garnier was killed while giving his victim impact statement in court on Thursday. He told the court, “He had wanted a boy,” which meant he thought Drew Garnier was mad about the baby’s gender.

He also said, “I am their father now,” and added that the horrible crime against their mother had really upset the couple’s young girls. I’ll look out for them.

Drew Garnier asked to be able to talk to the girls he admitted to stabbing while he was in jail. Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith spoke out against the order and asked for no-contact orders to last as long as the law allowed. Judge John Hubbard agreed, but he also said that the girls could talk to their dad if they wanted to.

Judge Hubbard told both of the girls to stay away from each other until the year 2056. It was said that Drew Garnier wouldn’t sign them. The judge reportedly told Drew Garnier, “You took a life and hurt your children,” according to reports from the hearing. They had every right to expect you to protect them.

Drew Garnier was given 30 years in jail and 15 years of probation after he got out, as part of his plea deal.
