Washington County Authorities Pull Man’s Body from Monongahela River

On Wednesday evening, the body of a man was recovered from the Monongahela River; the river is located in Washington County.

The body, which has not been recognized, was discovered by a tugboat close to the old Brownsville lock wall, as stated by the Chief of the West Brownsville Volunteer Fire Company, Todd King.

King asserts that the heavy rains that have been falling in the Pittsburgh region this week have made the process of recovering the body the more challenging.

“Yeah, the water’s up little bit higher than normal,” King responded to questions. At a height of 14 feet. The average is somewhere around eleven, which means that there is a lot of junk in the water. It was necessary for our two boats to navigate past the debris, trees, barrels, and boulders that were floating on the river.

According to the Washington County Coroner, the individual seemed to be thirty to fifty years old at the time of his death.

“It is possible that it is a missing person from Point Marion who was reported missing in the past,” said the Pennsylvania State Police.
