The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement at 11:32 a.m. on Tuesday until 8 p.m. for Tualatin Valley, West Hills and Chehalem Mountains, Inner Portland Metro, East Portland Metro, Outer Southeast Portland Metro, West Central Willamette Valley, East Central Willamette Valley, Benton County Lowlands, Linn County Lowlands, Lane County Lowlands, West Columbia River Gorge of Oregon above 500 ft and West Columbia River Gorge I-84 Corridor.
“Breezy winds, low relative humidities along with dry grasses and shrubs are resulting in favorable conditions for fire spread through this evening. The areas of highest concern are within the Willamette Valley and the Western Columbia River Gorge. The strongest winds and lowest relative humidities are likely to occur within the Southern and Central Willamette Valley. Please limit activities that could result in stray sparks or fires,” according to the weather service.
