What’s the best waterfall in Oregon? Nominate your favorite for our Readers Choice Awards

Cold Spring Creek flows from the base of Tamanawas Falls, a 109-foot waterfall found at the end of a two-mile hike on the east side of Mount Hood.

Jamie Hale/The Oregonian

It’s time to open nominations for the next category of

The Oregonian’s Readers Choice Awards

, and it might be my personal favorite: the best waterfall in Oregon.

My family moved to Oregon from the East Coast in 1992, and even having spent a fair amount of time in the Appalachian Mountains, all of the

waterfalls

here were like nothing I had seen before.

One of the first hikes we did was the

Eagle Creek Trail

. We were impressed by Punch Bowl Falls, and then Tunnel Falls was mind blowing. For years, when friends or family came to visit, we’d take them to the

Columbia River Gorge Waterfall Corridor

, and I never tired of the trip.

Of course, there are plenty of falls outside of the gorge.

Tamanawas Falls

on Mount Hood’s east side might be my favorite now. (But it’s so hard to choose!) And I need to plan a trip to the North Umpqua River waterfall corridor as soon as possible after reading outdoors reporter

Jamie Hale’s recent story

about the area.

But enough about what I think. We want to know what you think is the best waterfall in the state. Nominate your favorite Oregon waterfall for our Readers Choice Awards below. Nominations are open until 11:45 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2025. We’ll reveal the finalists on Wednesday, June 18 at
