Will Levis’ Growth Continues Despite Loss at Georgia

The Kentucky Wildcats suffered their first loss of the 2021 season Saturday, a 30-13 loss to No. 1 Georgia in Athens.

Junior quarterback Will Levis was a bright spot in the loss, completing 32-of-42 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns.

“Not well enough to win,” Levis said of his performance during postgame interviews.

“I could have made some better plays to put us in a better position to win. I think everyone agrees that they could’ve stepped up and done some things that would have helped change the game, but I just gotta improve.”

While Levis wasn’t able to push Kentucky to a win, his improvement in recent weeks bolds well for the Wildcats moving forward.

“I really thought he competed his tail off and played exceptionally hard and gave us an opportunity with certain throws in tight windows,” Mark Stoops said. “I think there’s still quite a bit to build on, a lot of good things that he can build on from this. This defense is going to make a lot of quarterbacks uneasy. It’s a tough unit.”

Levis’ 32 completions were the most for a UK quarterback since Maxwell Smith (37) vs. Western Kentucky in 2012 and the most by a UK quarterback in an SEC road game since Jared Lorenzen (32) vs. Georgia in 2001.

“It was fun for me to go out there, go against a defense like that and just try to make plays,” said Levis. “I thought I threw the ball pretty well. There’s definitely some positives to take from it and we just gotta improve after we watch the tape.
