A 21-year-old Turlock, California man died in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 in Oldham County early Friday morning.
The accident happened around 5:36 a.m., 14 miles west of Adrian, in the eastbound lanes of I-40. The Texas Department of Public Safety said that Sparsh Masih, 21, was driving a 2023 Freightliner truck tractor carrying a semi-trailer when he failed to navigate a curve on the road.
According to preliminary findings, Masih exited the road before attempting to adjust the vehicle’s direction. Masih overcorrected, which caused the truck to fishtail and skid into the inside lane. The vehicle then returned to the centre median and rolled over.
Masih was ejected from the truck because he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities said the weather was clear at the time, with dry roads and a 75-mph speed limit. No other injuries were reported.
Local law enforcement is continuing to investigate the crash.
