The NCAA Division 1 Council Coordination Committee has agreed eligibility relief is appropriate for spring sports.

College athletes had their seasons come to an end on Thursday and for some, their careers.

For players like Kentucky’s Nate Sestina, a graduate transfer playing his final season of collegiate eligibility, the NCAA’s decision to pull the plug on winter and spring sports abruptly ended collegiate careers before postseason play ever had the chance.

It sounds like the NCAA has decided to grant players in spring sports an additional year of eligibility. We’re still waiting on the official announcement. Basketball is a winter sport and the NCAA is looking into what to do for those players, according to Jeff Goodman.

There will definitely be a scholarship situation that will have to be worked out, especially in spring sports like baseball, softball and others.

While the regular season of college basketball was played, I still think senior athletes deserve the opportunity to play in the NCAA Tournament. Will the NCAA agree to that? Not sure but hopefully, we will know something soon.
