Watch: The locker room was fired up for Bryce Hopkins after the game

Bryce Hopkins

Bryce Hopkins took advantage of his opportunity Wednesday night vs. LSU.

The freshman forward scored 13 points, all coming in the second half, to help Kentucky battle back from a 31-23 halftime deficit.

A three-point play by Hopkins early in the second half gave the Wildcats a 39-36 lead, one they would never surrender the rest of the way, defeating the Tigers 71-66 at Rupp Arena.

Hopkins started his run with a jumper early in the second half, his first made basket since scoring two points in Kentucky’s overtime win vs. Mississippi State back on January 25.

John Calipari had been wanting to play Hopkins for weeks but he was waiting on that breakthrough moment for the freshman. Being shorthanded for the second game in a row provided another opportunity, one that Hopkins didn’t waste.

Calipari and the team were happy for Hopkins after the game. Go inside the locker room for the postgame conversation in the video below.
