Paul Washington Sr. Says not to Believe Reports that P.J. Washington is Leaning Towards Draft.

Despite what the media is telling you about P.J. Washington leaning towards staying in the NBA Draft, those reports are false and he isn’t leaning in either direction.

In a story with Larry Vaught and LEX18, Washington’s father, Paul Washington Sr., explained his frustration with those false reports and that people don’t understand how the process works.

“That’s all just speculation about what he’s going to do,” Paul Washington told Vaught. “I am amazed to see something almost everyday about something P.J. is going to do or not do.”

Ultimately, Washington may decide to stay in the draft if a team falls in love with him but what he’s doing right now is just taking advantage of the process that is in place for early entry’s. Paul Washington told Vaught that they will take advice from John Calipari and Kenny Payne before a final decision is made.

Washington has received his first round of feedback from the NBA and next comes the combine May 16-20. After that, the freshman forward will have until May 30th (ten days after the combine) to make a final decision about his future plans. The reports that he is leaning one way or the other is frustrating to his father.

“It’s frustrating to me. Where do they get that stuff? People believe it and form opinions based on that misinformation. It’s crazy. It’s ridiculous. All that stuff is just opinions but the only opinion that matters right now is P.J.’s and he’s still trying to gather all the information he can.”

There you go. Despite what reports you may here, Washington is nowhere close to making a final decision. Take in reports about his future as speculation only.
