UK Showing Interest in Five-Star Ashton Hagans

Five-star point guard Ashton Hagans recently backed out of a commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs and followed that by announcing possible plans to reclassify to the 2018 class.

With the Wildcats already having signatures from Immanuel Quickley, Keldon Johnson, and Tyler Herro, all wing players for 2018, you wouldn’t think Kentucky would show interest in the five-star guard. However, according to Evan Daniels, Hagans has received calls from Kentucky and Xavier since opening up his recruitment.

If Hagans does jump to the 2018 class, I see no chance that he receives an offer from Kentucky but if he remains in 2019, the Cats will likely be involved. It’s also worth noting that in addition to the three player class coming to Lexington next season, John Calipari could return Quade Green and Jemarl Baker while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Hamidou Diallo will have decisions to make about the NBA draft.

Daniels wrote in a piece with 247sports.com that within the last week, Hagans has picked up offers from Arizona State, Ohio State, Marquette, Maryland, Providence, Alabama, Florida, Georgetown, NC State, and Temple.

Hagans is currently rated the No. 8 player by 247Sports and No. 18 by ESPN. Both rankings for the 2019 class. A final decision to reclassify should come in a few weeks.
