Kentucky’s hire of Jai Lucas makes even more sense now that he will have access to on-court instruction during the 2020-21 season.
The NCAA issued a blanket waiver for Division I noncoaching staff members Wednesday that allows them to engage in on-court duties this season.
While Lucas is a special assistant to the head coach and recruiting coordinator, both off-court roles, under this blanket waiver, he can do everything the other coaches do.
Lucas will be on Zoom calls to recruits and help with instruction during practice and game planning for Kentucky this season.
