Iowa Basketball Transfer Ahmad Wagner Commits to Kentucky Football

Kentucky football has landed a commitment from college basketball player Ahmad Wagner. Wagner, who spent the last three seasons playing basketball at Iowa, announced his commitment to Kentucky football on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.

Wagner (6-foot-7, 235-pounds) played in 96 career games at Iowa, starting 25 total. He will now trade in his basketball shoes for football cleats and will play wide receiver for Kentucky.

Mark Stoops and Kentucky originally recruited Wagner before he decided to play basketball out of high school. This could be a solid pickup for Kentucky late in the recruiting season. Wagner only played one season of high school football, where he caught 58 passes for 1,028 yards and 17 touchdowns. His strong performance led to him being named all-state at Wayne High School in Ohio.

Kentucky wasn’t the only school to show interest in high school, as Ohio State also expressed interest.
