Scott Padgett is joining the New Mexico men’s basketball program as an assistant coach, the school announced Friday.
The former Kentucky Wildcat was most recently the head coach at Samford University for six seasons until the two parted ways earlier this year.
Padgett’s son, Logan Padgett, announced his transfer to New Mexico earlier this month. Now, his dad will be joining him in New Mexico.
“I am very excited to join The University of New Mexico basketball program!” Padgett said. “I am looking forward to helping impact the players and university in a positive way both on and off the court. I want to thank Coach Weir for the opportunity to learn from him and contribute to the great University of New Mexico basketball tradition.”
As we complete our coaching staff for the upcoming season, we are pleased to introduce former @KentuckyMBB All-American and first-round @NBADraft selection Scott Padgett as the new assistant coach for the Lobos! Welcome to the Lobo Family Coach! #GoLobos https://t.co/UtC3hjbIp5
