Things appear to be swinging in favor of Kentucky in the recruitment of five-star guard DJ Wagner, who has been at the top of Kentucky’s recruiting board for a while.
Wagner, a 6-foot-3 combo guard in the 2023 class, is the No. 1 player nationally in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
The race for Wagner’s talent is down to a battle of rivals, Kentucky and Louisville. Does the five-star guard choose John Calipari, who coached his father at Memphis? Or does he choose Louisville’s Kenny Payne, who has a close relationship with Wagner’s grandfather Milt? Milt Wagner was recently hired in an off-court role in the Louisville program.
A lot of buzz for Kentucky started surfacing Friday night, as Travis Branham of 247Sports changed his crystal ball prediction from Louisville to cloudy, which means things are changing.
I have now pulled back my Crystal Ball on DJ Wagner to Louisville as the race with Kentucky has become too cloudy.https://t.co/NWL5MzIazn

As I’ve said since Kenny Payne — and the Milt Wagner — was hired, Kentucky has never at any point wavered in its confidence on DJ. https://t.co/fT3jzaKTyx
